
* Char Siew Pau .. one of my daily Breakfast item on the table...
As usual, This morning i wake up to find my all time favourite ' Char Siew pau '.. Ah.. there it is.. having the itch to eat it first before i brush my teeth, i saw my mom taking the Char siew pau and peel the top part of the skin.. although i just woke up, i could'nt help but to think why did she do that while i am brushing my teeth.. 1st possible reason.. maybe air contamination so peel of the top part which is expose to the air... 2nd possible reason.. Maybe with the skin is a bit tough to bite .. ( For the OLD people la ) Hmmmmmm.... So i decided to ask my mum about it.. and to my surprise really surprise.. My mum said this.. Oh.. i saw grandma do it..so i do it..
-__- ''' Ok.. That is not convincing at all !! And that really bothers me alot ... So i called my chef, Shatec friends , and do some research.. and finally come to a scary moment of truth.. And let me Warn you.. You better peel the top part of the skin before you eat.. Ha..
Now Digest this.. To make Pau, The dough is rolled and cut into pieces for stuffing and shaping into dumplings. Stuffed pau would be arrange on woven bamboo trays that will be stack up on the steamer. When a tray was about to be stacked for steaming, the pau maker would sprinkle the pau with water. but in the older days, before handy pump sprinklers were invented, the pau maker would ballon his mouth with a gulp of water and flex his cheek muscles to expel a fine spray of water to moisten the pau. Even though high heat temperatures should kill all kind of bacteria.. this odd and bizarre final step should make you think twice before you eat a char siew pau ! believe it anot ! :-)

Happy stuff i am going to talk now.. Guess what today i invented apple cake ! i was prompted to make a cake for someone.. i love.. i treasure.. i value.. Yuhan Koh .. yea.. that idiot birthday on 21 December.. WELL.. i admit last year i forgot yours.. but got reason man.. was working in Shangri-la hotel.. so busy man.. and somemore.. Christmas period.. You said.. u want a fruit cake.. so i tried making one.. i the Iron Chef.. call it the ' 2359 apple cake ' you know why 2359 right ? haha.. here's a peep at the cake..
Erm.. the taste.. 4 out of my family member say is nice.. only 1 say not nice.. which is me.. i will improvise it again ! :-) Happy belated birthday ! i owe it to someone as well.. which is Jason.. i forgot ur birthday is on 10 December ! Accept my apology ! Paiseh ! i am sure the rest have given you a memorable celebration.. :-)Mum and Sis are giving me challenges as days pass by slowly for me.. probably they realise i better use my brain more often otherwise i be a piece of block at home.. so they are preparing Chinese New Year goodies to sell and ask me to make and sample to see if its up to mark to be sold in the market.. duh... i tried.. and here it is.. ' Ong Lai ' tarts..
It was fun making pineapple tarts.. i got to admit i am a genius.. my first time.. yet is so successful.. i have to remember to take photographs the next round.. realise the blog is lacking of photos.. !! Ok ! tml Log Cakes !! Post photos again ! Goodnight Jabronis !
